Run free, grandpa Lennox!… Run free!

Dear grandpa Lennox

This is all very strange. This morning you left, IN your bed! And now, even stranger: you are not here!
Mum says you went to see Grobber and Moohs. You went to the Rainbow Bridge, after 15,5 years in this world. She says you will be in the Bridge-world for ever!

She also says I should be very grateful for what you learned me. As mum and dad are very grateful for your long and beautiful life. But we’ll miss you. Tears will dry, she says, but we’ll still think about you!

So, give big hugs to my friends at the Rainbow Bridge! You yourself told me about this Rainbow Bridge… Enjoy your life there as much as you loved life here!

Adieu, grandpa, adieu!

With love and big lady-hugs,

Kita

Summer in the middle of autumn… and about youthful hubris!

Because I was so exhausted on wednesday, mum said I have to show you how I do that! Getting myself in such a “state”. Grandpa, who laughed so much at me, he agreed with mum! He said, still laughing, that the little one should not be pityed that much by all her friends! He said I do it all by myself, just having fun. Friends do not have to show pity for having too much fun! 🙂 That’s what grandpa says…

So this morning we went to the huge dogpark again and mum was filming a lot! Grandpa came too a little later and even did some running. He stopped in time, he said, not to be that exhausted.
And we played with the other doggies too! Today Seppe tried to play with grandpa who was not in the playing-mood, so I distracted him… Grandpa thought that for once I did the right thing… 😉

We were in the dogpark for a very long time! Gues what? Other mums and dads were telling my dad that sometimes there comes another airedale, a sir named ‘Bear’. We are all very curious and we want to meet him, of course.
Grandpa was only sighing and groaning: Two of these specimen getting too exhausted??? My dogness!

The proof?… Here it is! He did it again!

You did not believe me, little one? Here I am! 😉

Hey grandpa Lennox, you really did it! You walked all the way again to come and say hello? My dogness! I have to show that at all my friends!

Mum, mum… grandpa and dad are here! Mum!!!! Do you have the blinking box? We have to fototoot to show to all my friends. He did it again! What a guy, my grandpa! ❤

Little one, don’t make such a fuss of it. Just run around as you should and sniff around! You have to read your newspaper and follow the news in this world! That’s important!

What a guy, my grandpa! Really!

Almost unbelievable… but true!

What? What do you say, grandpa? What are you saying?? ??????

You heard me all right, little one! I’m the one who is getting deaf here! 😉 So you heard me but I’ll repeat it word after word! I WENT YO YOUR DOGPARK AND I WAS IN IT!

You must be joking! The huge one?

Now you are joking, little one! No, I was in the small one. Last night when mum and you were already sleeping! Dad and me were walking and walking and the paws and bones were good so we went all the way to the small fenced dogpark! I even smelt you were there! And your friends Athos and Tilt!

But that is quit far for you, grandpa! Did you get home all right? Or did dad carry you back! 😉

Little one, listen very carefully! I’ll be carried to the bridge one day but in this life, when I choose to go to the dogpark I’m proud enough to come back on my own paws and force too! And don’t giggle!

Hihihi, yes I giggle: that’s why you still slept this morning although your breakfast was ready! 😉 🙂 Mum had to wake you! Never saw that before! hihihihihihihi…

Ggggrrrrr!

Stop it you two! A sir and a lady behaving like babies! 😉

How’s grandpa Lennox doing?… Just have a look! :-)

So many friends from Belgium and all over the world were asking: “And how is grandpa Lennox doing these days?”

Well, I said to mum we should show how he is doing! No, not while he is eating, he is an Olympic champ , and in sleeping he is a champ too! That’s boring. Grandpa, we’re making a video of you, what do you think about that?

Don’t like that little one, you know it. Get out of my way. I’m doing my walk. Get aside, will you!!

Grandpa, don’t be so grumpy. You are famous because of your age! 15 years and three months, for a labrador, that’s old, very old! really very, very old! And my friends want to know about you!

Little one, don’t repeat it all the time, I know it better than you do that I’m old! My old bones tell me! 😦

Yes, mum, we made it! He is in the blinking box! You show it at my friends now?

Yes, Kita, yes!

Get out of my way

Get out of my way, little one!

Grandpa Lennox says… not to worry too much!

Friday… so mum is at home and dad was out, working. Mum seldom takes the two of us together for a walk. That only happens on fridays! Grandpa barked she should take the blinking thing with her to show the world he is still on his feet and walking! That was grandpa the macho talking. Me and mum, we smiled and mum took the blinking box. 🙂

Off we went, to the park. Not to the dogpark. Dad says grandpa shouldn’t act too macho anymore because he only can get his doping every 4 weeks, so he should not use all his forces at once. In the dogpark, well, if he starts playing with the other dogs and he collapses, that would be no good! Grandpa disagrees: he says he never collapses… Mum smiles and says: that’s our grandpa speaking! He’ll never learn… 😉

We made a nice walk, and mum did a lot of filming. Not the whole walk of course, just a part of it. Grandpa is still sniffing all the way! Mum says he reads the news in his daily paper! Sometimes he commands me to come and read too! I always obey: don’t want him to get annoyed with me, keep that privilege to mum, hahahaha! 😉

When we were on the way back home, we had a nice rest in the daisies-field. Mum took some pics and for once, grandpa did not mind! We behaved nicely, she said! She’ll have some nice memories, later, she said!
Grandpa barked that mum already said that before I came… and that he is not gone yet, not today anyway! 🙂 ❤

Enjoy the pics and don’t get dizzy looking at the video… hihihi!

Interview… with my grandpa because of his 15th birthday!

This evening, the night before his 15th birthday, on  the 29th of may, my grandpa was interviewed! He gets as famous as me! That’s great, isn’t it?…

Good evening, mister Lennox. Thank you for letting me interviewing you.
That’s alright, young reporter, just call me Lennox, will you. Or even grandpa Lennox, like the little one over there does.
Hey grandpa, I’m bigger than you are!
Shut up, little one! You know very well who is the biggest here! Lets go on and don’t interrupt anymore, little one!

So you will be 15 years old tomorrow. How does that feel?
The same as today and yesterday, I think. A day older…Everything goes minute by minute…

Let’s talk about your long life. What do you remember of your childhood?
Not very much, Idon’t want to remember!

Why not, mister Lennox?
Grandpa Lennox, please! I did not live here yet. I came here with mum and dad when I was three, that’s when my real life started, you see. I know about the more ugly side of this world, but I do not talk about that!

Can you tell about the most important moments in your life?
My coming here of course. The two times I escaped but I came back very quickly, after half an hour I got back.
Important was when we moved to the city when I was six years old! There I met my very good friends, in our dogpark. There was Bartje, the ‘dogo Argentino, and Boogy, my lookalike and Grobber, also the little one’s friend and Mohs. They all are at the rainbowbridge now. Getting old has his disadvantages: all friends die, one after the other… There you are, all alone.
But then mum and dad decided to get the little one when I was twelve and maybe a bit depressed. That little one could be very disturbing in the beginning, believe me! But then I understood I had to stay a while to learn her some important things in this life, you know… Had to keep an eye on her!

And did she learn from you?
Think so! 😉 Ask her! I learned also from  her sence of humour and her laughing, learned so much of that little one. 🙂  ❤

Maybe a difficult question… What about your health at this age?
This age without health-issues, that’s not possible, even a puppy knows! I have this kidney-issue which is under control, the hypdisplasia discovered when I was three and the last years the osteoarthritis. But I am on medication and dope and I’m fine: no pain, only a little stiff! I still can run some days and show the youngsters in the park who is the boss! Be sure of that!

Do you have some advice for younger dogs?
Enjoy life, enjoy the little things that make life great: cuddling, treats, a soft bed, walks, playing in the dogpark…

Thank you very much, mister Lennox and I wish you a happy birthday tomorrow!
Grandpa, I said! Ggggrrrr!

Olympics!… Here we come!

We are champions, we really are! Mind my words! We go to the Olympics and we’re going to participate in the relay run! Mum says we must be joking… Why? She says doggies are not allowed! Doggies no, but airedales and labradors??? They are allowed, no? Mum says no! My dogness, how stupid! We should start a petition to organise recreative-fun-Olympics for doggies!

Anyway, my macho grandpa always says he was a good runner in his younger days and yesterday he said, maybe a little overconfident, that he still is! At 14 years, 11 months and 1 week!!! And he said he would show it too! He said we would do a relay run.
I really did not know what he was talking about, I only understood: run. That’s what I can, yes, but him? He said he would show and explain, mum and dad learned him that when he was younger: the relay run!

So he did! My dogness! Took a while before I understood, I run everywhere normally, but yes, we did a lot of training! Guess that we’ll be ready when they organise recreative-fun-Olympics for doggies. Won’t we, grandpa Lennox?

Anyway: we got already our medals yesterday! Chicken treats and fish treats! Lennox got double treats! 🙂 We snored all evening and grandpa says: no training today! Next training? Only next week? 😦

Back in time… with grandpa Lennox!

Mum, do you have pics of grandpa Lennox when he was my age? He always says he was quite a guy in his younger days! I want to see that with my own eyes. Did you make fototoots of him too? I know he does not like it, but since you are stubborn… 😉
What do you say? No digital photography in these days? No blinking box? So, no pics? Oh, there are only a few, pics were expensive these days and they had to be good from the first time? Well, you show them or not??!!

Okay, Kita, I’l look them up, impatient aire-girl!

Look at these… Mum explains with the pics… Well, he did some bizar things, my grandpa! Standing on dogs, jumping on dogs: on his (and mine!!) French farm friend Mano (same age and also still alive!)… but he also was a very sad dog, arriving at mum’s and dad’s place… And naughty too, just like me! We are not allowed on chairs and couches… Look at that, mum!!! He does not do it anymore, neither do I… 🙂
The older he gets, the more he smiles! Great grandpa! He is so happy to have me, isn’t he? 😉 🙂 ❤

Mum, will you show these to all my friends too, please???

Life on the wild side… Yihaaa!!!

Told you yesterday that I found lots of things on my mum’s tv-typing-machine! To be honest: she is the one showing me… 😉

Anyway, in these carnival-holidays (remember that? – seems long ago…) we were at the beach. And at some moments, my grandpa lennox forgets he is a grandpa now and that he should act as a grandpa… just as I act as a lady (when I feel like it…). So sometimes my grandpa does not feel like acting as a grandpa…
Mum is not prepared at that, nor is the blinking thing… but she captured some of his silly non-grandpa-actions… 😉 As well as my non-lady-actions… in deep water!!!

Result: a little movie with bizar movements of grandpa but also of the blinking thing, hahahaha! Hope you don’t get dizzy while looking… 😉 because pics and film are mixed… 😉
